This auction was held on February 12th and 13th 2022, during which ten IPL franchises spent more than five hundred and fifty- one crore to buy two hundred and four players. There were sixty-seven international cricketers among them.

Chennai Super Kings bought Deepak Chahar for fourteen Crore rupees. This marked the second biggest purchase. Lucknow Super Giants bought Khan for ten Crore rupees. Liam Livingstone, the England all-rounder, was the
most expensive foreign player at the auction. He was bought by Punjab Kings for eleven and a half crore after an intense bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. The Sri Lankan cricketer, Wanindu Hasaranga, was the most expensive overseas cricketer sold at the IPL Mega auction, for Rs 10. 75 crore to RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore).
